HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY!!

Capstone is having its first ever High School Christmas Party!!!  We are still having our family gathering Thursday, Dec. 2, but this party will be only for Capstone high-schoolers.

Date:         Monday, December 13, 2010

Time:         6:00 pm – 8:00

Place:         Dayspring Baptist Church  @ the Shack (the big brown building)

Who is Invited: Only Capstone high-schoolers (grades 9-12).  Don’t bring your friends, don’t bring your boyfriend/girlfriend, don’t bring your little brother or sister!  We want you to meet and make new friends!(:

Cost:          $1.00 per student

We would like for the high schoolers to get to know one another and find out who they will be graduating with.  Many of them don’t know there are other students their age in our covering.

We will be playing “dirty santa” so bring a gift less than $10.00 to go under the tree.  We will also be playing other games! We will have pizza and drinks for the students.  Parents, please plan to drop them off—take time to go shopping, run your errands, etc.

I would like to have two or three more parents stay around to help supervise.  If you can help – let me know.

Please RSVP so we will know how many people plan to attend.  Just e-mail me at:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

FIELD TRIP INFO:   The field trip for November is to the Weather station on November 10th at 1:00.
It is located at the Mobile Regional Airport under the Doppler radar (also known around here as the big “soccer ball”) in the red brick building.  It will last about 1:00 hr

December 13 @ 1:00 pm :  Paint & Pals Studio's.  We must have at least 10 people to sign up. There will be a sign up sheet at November's Gym Night. This field trip is for kindergarteners to high schoolers. I encourage families with middle & high schoolers to sign up. The older children will paint something different from elementary children. The cost per person is 12,00 & is paid the day of the field trip. Kathleen Goss will have more information on the options of what will be painted @ Gym Night.  If anyone has any questions, email Kathleen

T-SHIRTS:  The t-shirts have arrived!  If you would like to purchase a Capstone t-shirt, we now have all sizes available (youth s – adult xl).  The cost is $15.00 per shirt.  I will have them at all gym nights.

CAREER FAIR:  Lamda Zeta Honor Society will be hosting a career fair again this year.  The date and time have not been finalized, but will be held sometime in January.  I will forward the final info to you as soon as I receive it.

COUPONS:  Interested in coupons?  Are you a “clipper”?  Bring your coupons to the November gym night and we will have a table set up for you to put those coupons that you are not going to use.  Put down what you don’t use and pick up what you need.

NOTE:  I will be out of touch 10/22-10/31.  I will not have access to a cell phone or computer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  There have been a number of great ideas offered by parents.  The problem is----I can’t do it all!  If there is something you would like for us to do, be prepared to act to put it in motion! If you would like to get a group of elementary student together for a “play time” once or twice a month, you can arrange to meet at one of the parks on certain days, etc.  You do not have to go through me to start a play group.  Once you have anything set up, just email the info to me and I will make sure it is sent out to everyone.  The only time you need to come to me is if you are planning an event here at the church.  It will have to be reserved and approved by Dayspring before we send out any announcements.  We have had many parents wanting to have high school socials.  No problem, but once again, I NEED HELP!  I would like to have one parent who will volunteer to be the coordinator.  The coordinator will be the go to person with your ideas.  If you want your student to be involved, then you need to be involved.  Once again, I only need to be involved in planning if the event is held here at Dayspring.  We have had great suggestions like:  bowling night – game night – Frisbee toss/picnic at the park.  But we need high school parents to help!   If you would be willing to set up or host an event for the high schoolers, once we have a coordinator, you would contact them and let them know what you are willing to do.

FALL FESTIVAL:   Dayspring Baptist Church will be holding their Fall Festival on Saturday, November 13 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm.  Everyone is invited to come out for some fun!  There will be games and inflatables and lots of food.  It is a great community and family event.

CHRISTMAS PARTY:  The Christmas Party is set for Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 6:00 pm. I NEED A VOLUNTEER(S) !
Kathleen Goss has agreed to be in charge of the children’s craft area.  She will need help in that area.  Also, if you have a teen-age student that would like to help her with the children, they are welcome to do so.    We still need someone to be in charge of games.    I would like to have a group of people volunteer to help. I will send out more info about the Christmas party in the next few weeks.   **We are also planning another Christmas party…just for high schoolers!  More info to follow!

REMINDER:
1st qtr attendance/grades are due by Dec. 1.  If you have finished with your 1st quarter, go ahead and send them in to me.

THINKING AHEAD:  We have a family that could benefit from our generosity.  We will have a collection bucket at the Nov. gym night and will be accepting donations from pennies to dollars.  We are planning to purchase a Christmas box from the Angel Food Ministries along with a grocery gift card to present to a needy family.  If you would like to make a contribution (even just a $1 or 2) and can’t make it to the gym night, please include it with your grades and send it in!  Every little bit helps.   ACT
