Capstone Christian School

Enrollment Information

All families wishing to join Capstone Christian School must agree to each of the following:

Admission:
Admission is determined upon submission of an application packet and a personal or phone interview.  Any family providing false information will be immediately withdrawn.  If a family requests admission during the school term the student should not be removed from their present school until their application has been accepted.  Capstone will not be responsible for any truancy charges prior to admission.

NOTE:
Students who have been expelled from a school will not be eligible for admission.
High school students are not accepted after their  12th grade year has begun.
Students who have dropped out of high school are not eligible for admission.

Fees:
Renewing families who have met all enrollment requirements and have turned in all paperwork on time will pay $100.00 tuition.
All families are required to join HSLDA and maintain yearly membership.  All families must provide a copy of their membership card for their file yearly.  All fees are due with application for admission.  Fees are non-refundable. Tuition is not prorated throughout the year.

If a check is returned for insufficient funds, a $30.00 NSF check fee will be added to the check, payment to cover both is due within ten (10) days.  If two NSF checks are received, personal checks will no longer be accepted.

There will be a $25.00 fee for any transcripts requested (this does not include Capstone graduates
  -  a transcript will be provided  upon completion of their senior year.)

Attendance:
Students have an established academic year of 180 days.  (Five of these days may be teacher work days.)  A student may have 10 absences per semester; however, we do not recommend having absences.  Field trips are educational activities are counted as school days.  Teachers must maintain daily attendance records on the forms provided and should turn in copies of attendance along with grades as follows every quarter as follows:

First Qtr grades due no later than:      December 1
Second Qtr grades due no later than:
  March 1
Third Qtr grades due no later than:
     May 1
Fourth Qtr grades due no later than:
   July 1

You may turn in grades early (I encourage you to do so!)  It is wise to turn in grades as soon as a quarter is completed.  There is a $10.00 late fee added after the above deadlines.

Families are not required by law to submit attendance forms, curriculum information, or examples of students’ work to the police, truancy officers, or public school administrators without a court order.  Families should not volunteer to produce such information.  Upon request, you should present your HSLDA card which verifies that you are a homeschooler or present your Church School Enrollment Form you will find in your folder.

Standardized Testing:
Capstone requires students to be tested every other year beginning in third grade.  You may test on the even years (4, 6, 8…) or odd years (3, 5, 7…).  Capstone will administer the IOWA test every year.   Each family is responsible for the cost of the test.  Tests are ordered in March/April.  Testing will take place in May here at the church.
Students in grades 10-12 may elect to take the ACT or
SAT College board exams.  Students are required to score 18 or better on the ACT or the equivalent on the SAT test in order to receive a diploma from Capstone.

Capstone reserves the right to require additional testing of students.

Capstone will coordinate the testing, but the student will cover the cost and families must bring the student to the testing site.

Behavior and Dress Code:

Good behavior, respectful attitudes and modest dress will be required at all school related functions.  There is to be no obscene or vulgar language, poking fun at others, hitting, biting, scratching, etc.  A warning will be given, but on the second offense, the student may be banned from further activities.  In addition, activities or lifestyles deemed harmful to the witness or reputation of Capstone may result in dismissal.

GRADUATION:

A student must complete the all Alabama Graduation Requirements AND make at least a 17 on the ACT test (or SAT equivalent).

Any overt misconduct may result in dismissal from the church school.

Any missed deadlines or failure to comply with the above requirements (attendance and grade deadlines, HSLDA membership, etc.) will result in a letter of delinquency.  If the situation is not remedied in 15 days from that letter, enrollment will be terminated.
